Dentures Q & A

What are dentures?

If you’ve lost your teeth to severe tooth decay or gum disease, dentures provide replacements that are fully removable for cleaning and care.

Dr. Gindi offers two types of dentures:

Partial Dentures

If you’re missing several teeth within one area, you can turn to partial dentures as an option. These dentures use metal clasps on either side, which wrap around your existing teeth for stability.

Full Dentures

If you lose the teeth across an entire arch, either upper or lower, full dentures restore the line of teeth for both cosmetic and functional purposes. If you’re using dentures for your upper arch, you’ll secure them with an adhesive. For your lower arch, the dentures are kept in place through natural suction along the bottom of your mouth.

Why would I need dentures?

Dr. Gindi offers several different courses of action for restoring your teeth. The choice comes down to your budget and level of comfort. Dentures are an inexpensive option that provides a noninvasive solution for missing teeth. The replacement teeth are removable for easy care and, thanks to new materials, they look and feel like your real teeth.

How long do dentures last?

If you take good care of your dentures, they’ll reward you with years of good use. Proper care involves cleaning your dentures properly each night, handling them with care, and keeping up with the health of your gums.

Dentures do require a different standard of care than your natural teeth. To prolong the life of your prosthetic teeth, Dr. Gindi makes sure you have the proper cleaning solutions and supplies you with a list of best practices that will help you safeguard your investment.

But, like most things, your dentures can succumb to normal wear and tear, and there may come a time when you need replacement bases or teeth, which Dr. Gindi easily handles. As well, if you’re having any issues with comfort or fit, Dr. Gindi is happy to adjust your dentures as needed.
